Well... You say it does not work. I say that depends on how you look at it.
Look at the flow statistics. There *IS* flow in this echo. And we *have*
participation from all zones. Which can not be said of many other echos.

Now take a look at another "international" echo: POL_INC. It is run your way: a
"respected" modertor leads by example and gives people "vacations" when they
violate the rules. Seems to work. Well, if you overlook the fact that all the
non Z1 participants have left long ago and that now even the regulars seems to
have come here to evade the draconian style of moderating...

Other example: FIDO_SYSOP. Created according to the Z1 way of doing things.
Listed in the echolist, moderator elections every year and a nice set of rules.
respected moderator. Sounds good doesn't? Only if you overlook the fact that
the e-listing has lapsed, there has been no moderator election for two years
because no one could be found to act as receiving officer, the moderator has
not paosted rules in some time and there has only been one nessage in the last
two month. It is as good as dead.

Your way does not work. Not for interzonal echos.

You remind me of those Johova's wittnesses that used to come to my door ten
fifteen years ago that that to convert me. They sound very reasonable. They
have this trick of starting out with a question that you can hardly answer with
"no". Something like "don't you agree that this world is a mess and that
someting needs to be done?" How can one say no to that? But you know that when
you start arguing with them they will just draw you in deeper an deeper. let
them in your house and you know that it will be very difficult to get them out
again. "Why not let us in for a moment to let us explain? What is there to
lose". The only way to deal with them is to say "I am not interested" and close
the door without waiting for their answer.

It certainly solves the problem of how to get you off my back...

So instead of letting the crocodile roam the water and let the rabbit roam the
land, you want them to put in a cage together and let a ranger with a gun stand
next to the cage to shoot the crocodile if he eats the rabit.

Well, that may give the ranger a job and maybe the crocodile will find a way to
circumvent the ranger. But what is in it for the rabbit?
