     I think it would depend on the context and the apparent intent that the
word was used in. I have always had a problem with being put in groups and
judged based on the group and not on me as an individual. Be that a social
group or a group based on nationality.

     I don't think that the Europeans as a group are the problem. Those
that we may interact with are probably only a very, very small fraction
of Europeans as a whole. If I had a problem with 10, 100, 1000, or even
10,000 Europeans. That is still only but a tiny fraction of them as a
whole. It isn't really fair to judge them as a group based on the behavior
of only a small fraction. The same principle could and should be used in
reverse. The small number of Americans, North Americans, Zone 1 people,(Take
your pick) that a European may have a problem with or dislike should not be
representitive of all of that group or country. People should dislike people
for who they are and not for where they come from.

     I guess that is where we differ then. I don't look at Swede's as
dumbasses. I may choose to look at a person as a dumbass who happens to
be from Sweden though. Course the same thing could be said of someone
of any country.

     The same can be said for those of any nationality that will act in
either word or action but are slow to explain the reasons behind their
words or actions. They seemingly don't want people to toknow their reasons
or to understand them too clearly. I would guess that they would then have
to put up with the grief from those that once they found out didn't approve
of or think much of their reasons.

     I have noticed that too. I read alot of posts in other echos but
don't post much. One thing that gets me is when people will drag the
problems from one echo to another rather quiet and respectfull echo.

     As I have stated in an upcoming Fidonews submission. I would much
prefer Felten speaking up and acting as a moderator here. I know it
would be more work to get control of a rowdy echo that it would be to
maintain te echo. But something needs to be done. If the current
editor/moderator chooses not to want to do the job. Then that rather
limits the alternatives. I would hope that he realizes that and if he
doesn't want to be moderator or act in that capacity that he would then
help to find a replacement.

     Heck, I have been hoarse for two weeks now and could barely talk a few
days ago. A fact that rather pleased some folks here I think. <g>

     I have also noticed that. There are a few people that have a set of
standards that they expect others to abide by while having a separate
set of standards for their own behavior. I have no problem witha set of
standards but they should be fair in nature and evenly applied to everyone.
