Hi Herman,

>>>> I seems the people of the USA have finally come to their senses

>> As I've been saying, people who only read the "liberal press"
>> <laugh>, or worse yet, those who think the loudmouth few in
>> fidonet represent the feelings of the citizens of this country get
>> a very slanted picture of how MOST people in this country feel
>> about Mr. Bush, his administration and the war in Iraq

> I know pretty well...
> I know your country and your countrymen. From many visits in the USA and
> meeting many American people in big cities as wel in the countryside.
> Know their hospitality (even in the high-way traffic! which politeness is
> hardly to
> find in our country)
> I wrote it often before in this echo.
> So I refuse to believe those few loudmouth represent the US people.

Thank you for mentioning that. Over here in the States, we have many bridges
to repair, and I'm hoping this election is the start of that.

>>> Have to see the election results on TV (if I don't forget)
>>> Ortherwise I'll read in the morning papers tomorrow....

>> Go to mydd.com or dailykos.com right now and see exactly what
>> happened, why, and what it really means to those of us in the US
>> that voted Democratic yesterday. We are ecstatic

>I watched a couple or 7 of "News Stations" on dig. cable TV today. (US, NL and
> BBC) I watched at the "right moment": Breaking news, live from the White
> House.

It was funning watching the election commentary over here on the major network
stations.. You could hear and see the Republican influence in all of it.. They
couldn't deny the results, but they did try in some cases to minimalize the
effect the election would have, etc. It's one of the reasons so many people
turn to alternative news sites on the Web rather than trust the TV media. I
think the only honest reporting on TV you see these days is on Comedy Central's
"Daily Show" with Jon Stewart :) :)

>> The Republican-Bush-followeres, the whiners in this
>> administration, are already trying to diffuse this glorious
>> victory by calling the Democratic winners of the House and Senate
>> "Conservatives".. but people in this country know the truth, and

> Sure. The people are not all blindfolded stupid.. Not in an open democratic
> governed country.

Yes, indeed.

> IMO, GWB and his "buddies" are the _real_ blindfolded (IMO2 dangerous)
> conservatives.

Yep, true. It's unfortunate that GWB fired his secretary of defense, Rumsfeld,
just after the election.. I would rather have seen Rumsfeld investigated for
his part in the Iraq war. It's been stated that now of course, the new
secretary just appointed by GWB will probably say, "I wasn't in office at the
time, I don't know anything about the situation" :(

> "God bless you, and may God bless Texas and the United States" (c) GWB.

> That is typical not democratic. Where's the freedom of religion? Which God
> from which religion community? What about other good US citzens? Does Texas
>not belong to the United States? Isn't a president The President for _all_ his
> citizens?

Lol.. I guess not :)

> Why did GWB "send" Rumsfeld home today? Does he expect more credibility
> (regarding Iraq) after these elections?

Perhaps he sent Rumsfeld home because Bush doesn't want an investigation of
Bush's defense department <grin>.. that or Bush has been told by other advisors
that Rumsfeld will say something dumb.. I saw some great quotes from Rumsfeld
on CNN yesterday, they were really funny (but bad).

> O.K. People might say "US elections and politics is for the US voters and
> taxpayers, so mind your own bussines".
> But it _is_ our bussines too.

Of course it's your business as well, we all have to suffer the consequences of
our neighbors actions. Look at how fast China ended the Korean Nuke problem..
it's their business too.

>Our countries always have been allies, as long
> as the USA exist. We had the first embassador in your country. Our
> servicemen cooperate with US servicemen in Iraq, Afghanistan, the "war on
> drugs" in the Caribbean etc etc, but we were _against_ the invasion in Iraq.

So were the people in my family.. we've always voted for those against this
war. I think the only reason Bush won the second term as President is because
the Republican party and Bush were successful in creating fear amongst the
people. They tried it with this election as well.. they were able to get the
courts to delay the sentancing of Hussein until a day or so before the
election... I think that backfired on them though.

> Now we feel we must help to make the best of it, but the discussions in our
> parliament are "heavy" (dispite our coming elections;-)....
> And YES we have to fight terrorisme. The question is "how ?" And we have to
> fight the drugs maffia too..

The future is not going to be a bed of roses, everyone knows that. But we're
hopeful that things will be turned around for the best.

Take care,
Janis
