Actually, they don't just use simple traps in this case, but pretty
sophistocated filters to remove things like carbon dioxide too. There are
presumably health regulations that apply to compressed air for human breating
purposes... I can't imagine there are none for the compressed air you get in
hospitals, for example.

It wasn't. I guess I'm older than I thought, but I've never seen a compressed
air system without at the very least an oil filter in the line. Without
something like that, you can smell the oil in the compressed air - and if
people are putting _that_ into tires in the States nowadays, I suddenly
understand why some guys are selling _clean_ nitrogen for inflating tires - and
getting the price they ask. But it would be just as good to use _clean_
compressed air.
