Too bad...had you been issued a US passport, you might not be experiencing
these problems.

WD> The EU-passports were already issued with a chip long before the US
WD> awoke from the 9/11 nightmare.

Yeah, a free nation is always last to have to close it's system to those
who would abuse those freedoms.

WD> The first country to have them was Denmark. These Danes and toys have
WD> always had a very special relationship.

That's odd...I don't recall ever seeing any toys made in Denmark.

WD> BTW, we celebrate 50 years of LEGO-bricks in January, another fine
 WD> Danish product.

Way behind the times then. Lincoln logs, a very fine American product,
once played with by my father as a child, predates Lego...however, my
former FIL, Carlos Christiansen was related to the founder and told me
many stories about his youth. BTW, the Lego toy manufacturer originated
over 70 years ago.

WD> Nope, this is a EU-passport intended for worldwide trabel, not to
WD> link into a US database.

If you're not in the US database, you'll have to go through customs like
every other visitor when you visit.

WD> Checking of the US database is done by crossreferencing the name of
WD> the bearer and the passport-number plus its date of issue (which both
WD> change every 6 years). Some time ago an immigration officer remarked
WD> "You seem to get around here", the system listed all of my entries

WD> through some impressive thick books.

No doubt.

WD> There is quite some opposition by the US requiring the airlines to
WD> send the electronic immigration information already at departure of
WD> the aircraft. I don't mind however as I've noticed most people now
WD> are pre-cleared already upon arrival and the immigration-process,
WD> though still a PITA, moves quicker than before.

Had the EU had the foresite to do it correctly, you could have a passport
that would allow you entry to the US merely by waving your passport at a
RFID scanner. That's already setup here between Canada, Mexico and the US.
Frequent travelers can either get a NEXUS ID or a SENTRI ID, the former to
walk by the RFID scanners at the US/Canadian border and the latter ditto
crossing the US/Mexico border. I don't recall if those are already in use
or if they come online on January 31, this year.

 RW>> That keeps your
RW>> ID and personal info secure while allowing you quicker access
 RW>> through customs.

WD> US customs have never checked my ID. Customs are a different
WD> department than Homeland Security under which 'immigration
 WD> inspection' now resides.

They're now one and the same under the HLS logo.

WD> Since you've never "been anywhere", per your own admission, there's
WD> no way you would know.

Wrong, as usual. One does not have to be a 'world traveler' to know the
laws of immigration and traveling.

RW>> An ore ship is more likely to sink in Lake Superior than an oil
 RW>> tanker.

 WD> Nice song.

Just correcting your ignorance of the lake.

RW>> the occasional idiot who dumps his oil drainings in it, but there is
RW>> no large quantity of oil in the storm sewers...The EPA and CARB
RW>> would both be down on LA for allowing that to happen. And shit rolls
RW>> downhill. When the guy who dumps his oil draining in the sewer gets
RW>> caught, there's a big fine. So people don't do it.

WD> IMO has monitored it and has issued the data some years ago.

Unfortunately, they didn't have a clue or you're imbelishing the story, as
usual.

WD> There's more than 'dumping oil' in a sewer, there's run-off from the
WD> streets and all kinds of business/practices.

I mentioned that. It still doesn't make up even 1% of an oil tanker spill.

WD> You'd be amazed about the amount of oil being discharged via 2-stroke
WD> lawn-mowers for example. Then accumulate that for a city the size of
WD> LA. Add to that the discharge by 2-stroke outboard engines.

FYI, two stroke engines have been banned from the LA basin for years. You
can't even get a two stroke motorcycle licensed in LA.

WD> IMO published an estimate about the amount of oil lost by
WD> recreational craft on the water ... incredible.

That used to be the case when there were two stroke engines in boats.
That still never amounted to 1% of an oil tanker spill.

WD> Also the discharge I'm talking about is gradual. 24hrs a day, 365
 WD> days a year ...

Maybe in the EU, but it isn't here.

WD> One drop in a bucket is nothing, but continuous dropping will fill
 WD> the bucket.

No shit!?

WD> And I mentionned LA because that was what IMO wrote about, but it's a
WD> universal trend ... more oil flows to the sea than that due to tanker
 WD> or shipping accident.
