It has been proven that some subatomic particles do travel faster than
light. What Einstein was referring to was matter, given that matter can
be changed into energy, energy not being held by the same laws limiting
how fast matter can travel.  IOW, matter cannot be destroyed.  It can
be changed into something else, such as energy.  But not destroyed.

Gravity changes the speed of light.  The speed of light is actually
an average over a specified distance.  Although that distance can be
quite short given a black hole.

Quantum suicide proves the possibility of parallel worlds exists.
A theory remains a theory until it is either proven or disproven.
Once a theory has been proven, it is no longer a theory and is
regarded as scientific fact. Once a theory has been disproven,
it is no longer theory and is regarded as total rubbish.

One alive, one dead.  According to the many-worlds or parallel
worlds theory.  Kind of like Schrodinger's cat.  But never being
able to find out if one is alive or dead.

Remove the outside observer and what do you have?
Multiple versions of yourself.  And that would truly
be a nightmare.  :)
