Not quite. There was a clique of officers who considered his dealings with the
Israelis traitorous, and finally assassinated him, but that was quite a while
after Egypt and Israel signed the peace accord that gave Sinai back to Egypt.
And Mubarak, Sadat's successor, has never questioned the peace accords. But he
_did_ purge the military after Sadat's assassination.

Bullshit. And how old were you in 1967, that you know so much about what
happened then? I happen to remember the city being divided by barbed wire
barriers, and Israelis not being allowed to pray at the "wailing wall" on the
Jordanian side. Now the city is united, but moslems are allowed to pray at the
Al-Aqsa  there. The Israelis are a good deal more generous then the Jordanians
were.

Like in northern Israel, being attacked nearly daily by Syrian and
Iranian-backed terrorists? Tell it to someone else.

And until Syria makes some kind of agreement to keep the peace, Israel will
continue to occupy the Golan Heights. Why should they give Syria still another
chance to bombard Israeli settlements across the border? How many times do you
want them to "turn the other cheek"?
