Nah.  I'd just grab his gun, take a quick look at it, and then
return it to him.

Responsible ownership of guns.  Not "less guns in the hands of private
citizens."

Then I'd take the gun away from him again, take a look at it,
and hand it back to him.  All in one piece.

Sure it does.  Keep guns out of the hands of crazy people and no
more Virginia Tech or Columbine massacres will happen.

Allowing crazy people to possess firearms, including assault weapons,
is nuts.  And some weapons, such as assault weapons, should not be sold
at all, to anybody.  Excepting police and others in law enforcement.

Ordinary, decent people do not need assault weapons to go hunting,
for protection, or for anything else.  Easy accessibility to firearms
means more criminals and crazies getting their hands on firearms.
And that means more innocent men, women and children needlessly dying.
