All democracies have fascist tendencies.  We saw that happen in this
country, on more than one occasion.  FDR interned thousands of Japanese
and Japanese Americans for years (without charge or trial) during WWII.
GWB interned just over a thousand people following the events of 9-11,
about half of whom were illegal immigrants and deported after a few
months, the other half simply held without charges or trial.  The
Patriot Act is an example of fascism in America.

If fascism were to take hold in America, I think it will be based
on the Mussolini version, but more like fascism with a smile rather
than beat-em-up thuggery.

Oh, I dunno.  I had thought George H.W. Bush had good genes.  I mean,
successful oilman, former congressman, CIA director, vice president,
president, etc.  Who would have thought his son would be such a dummy,
getting us into two wars, losing both of them...
