There are situations in which I muse that a cigarette would be nice, but it is
fleeting..

The physical addiction if you can get past the 2 week mark is easy, whats
harder is the mental.

Apart from the fact that nicotine in the right amount can kill, it does a royal
number on the insides of your veins and arteries and it jacks up your BP.

I had sky high BP and a EKG revealed a anomaly in my heartbeat, a echo revealed
I had an enlarged or thickened heart muscle.. Untreated I could have just
dropped dead. Fortunate for me, it got caught and the BP is well under control,
a stress test revealed no blockages, all subsequent EKG's were normal. I will
see the cardiologist in December for one more echo to confirm my heart has
returned to normal size and that he will then release me to the care of my
normal doctor..

Fortunately after 30+ years of smoking my lungs are clear!!

They say that taking a deep full breathe of air helps relieve stress and a
sense of well being, that is true and its wonderful to be able to fully inhale
without coughing or wretching, things smell better and food tastes better..
