Full medical required prior to acceptance yes.  There was no minimum for dental
health to join.  However, a dental checkup was required at least once a year,
if not every 6 months.  I dont remember for certain the frequency.

Oh, I'm aware that many small business do hire part time, and I dont disagree
with that so much, as I disagree with large corporations doing it.

My wife worked for General Mills, until they closed up shop here in town. 
Strange because this was the most modern facility in the country.  They are
still paying rent on the building.  That was I believe more then 5 years ago.  
At one point they tried to bring a union in there as well.  My wife having come
from a Union shop argued against it.  They thought that they would keep all the
benefits they had now, and go from there.  When she explained it to them about
having to start from scratch, the union idea sort of went south <G>

Yes, I paid at least 50% of my service pension, and also my Govt retirement
pension AKA CPP.  When I turned 65 my service pension was reduced by the amound
of that pension.  We (ex military and RCMP) are still fighting that.  I doubt
we will ever win though.

You mean like 6 city workers leaning on a shovel and watching the 7th digging a
