pies" or "horse apples" or anything else.  There are annual chip
throwing contests in Amarillo, Texas and Beaver, Oklahoma.

Beaver claims to be 'The Cow Chip Throwing Capital of the World'
whose residents swear they have the oldest such competition anywhere.

I will leave it up to our resident Texan (Roy W) to verify the truth
of this matter.

But one thing is indisputable -

If a horse and a cow fall in love, get married and have a baby,
then their offspring would leave 'apple pies'!

US proven oil reserves (1970) - 39 billion barrels
US proven oil reserves (2011) - 26.5 billion barrels

That is a 32% decrease.

I wonder what US proven oil reserves will be in 2030?

That is including Texas, of course.

I wonder how those numbers will compare with oil from the
rest of the world.  Not only will the US have a problem with
its own oil reserves, but so will many other countries.  And
that includes Saudi Arabia.

I fully expect the price of oil to be AT LEAST $140 a barrel
by or before the year 2030.  And that price will continue to
rise ever upward.

Shale oil and frakking is NOT the godsend the oil companies
are pretending it to be.  But that is another topic, for another
day.

Here is a true story of what happened to a fellow I know -

Young feller, in his 20s, a college graduate but lazy as hell, decided
to go on the public dole.  But how to get on?  That was the thing.  He
needed a plan.  A most devious plan.

Being that he had graduated from college, he had no more money coming
in, as his daddy thought it was time for him to get a job.  If being
allergic to work could be considered as being a disability, he would
qualify hands down.  But life was not so simple.

To be fair, he did try to work a few times.  But he never was able
to hold a job for longer than three days, as he would quit before
anybody could say "Boo!"

And then he came up with The Plan.  And when the opportunity arose,
he put The Plan into action.

He made arrangements to spend some time at his uncle's house, so
his parents would not be too upset when his little operation got
under way.

While at his uncle's house, he began to fast.  No food, drinking
nothing but plain water.  He did this on day one, with no apparent
change taking place.  He continued doing the same on day two, with
no apparent change taking place.  And then, on day three, it all
started coming together.  On the third day, while still refraining
from eating a dang thing, he began to hallucinate.

This also happened to be the same day that President George H.W. Bush
was to give a speech at the Cajundome.

While having a vision/hallucination, he called the cops and told
them he was going to shoot the president.

Well, it did not take long for the men in blue to show up, surrounding
the place, taking him into custody.

After spending one week at the nuthouse, he was approved for SSI.

The first thing he did when he got his check was to buy a sniper rifle.

Go figure.
