It had to happen.  Sooner or later, it had to happen.
Paranoid sysop has meltdown in FN_SYSOP echo -

"I guess I've never understood the paranoid (in my view)
about letting the world read any Fidonet echo ..."

The above message by David really hit a chord with a certain
sysop, who hopped on his keyboard and pecked away the following -

"We have in this case a non-sysop user access FN_SYSOP from
ozmossis and taking the content into the FIDONEWS echo, where
he trolls with it.. Of course he thinks he has some right to
that content.. If we cannot have echoes for a purpose, why
have them at all?"

A few corrections are at hand -

The entire world is free to view all messages posted in the
FN_SYSOP echo.  Not just sysops, but everybody in the whole wide
world.

Even if ozzmosis would cease to exist, the entire world would
still be free to view all messages posted in the FN_SYSOP echo.
Not just sysops, but everybody in the whole wide world.

Sysops and non-sysops alike are free to post whatever they wish
in the FIDONEWS echo.  That includes posting comments about what
sysops have posted in other echoes, such as the FN_SYSOP echo.

Quoting is allowed in the FIDONEWS echo, as it is in most other
fidonet echoes.  That is not likely to change anytime soon.

Björn Felten is still alive and kicking, and remains editor/moderator
of the FIDONEWS, much to the chagrin of the NAB/Troika/Paranoid Sysop.

Echoes serve a purpose.  That purpose is communication.  After all,
that is what fidonet is all about.  Or rather, what fidonet is supposed
to be all about.  When communication is stifled, by limiting access
or other means, that purpose is diminished.

If fidonet is to survive, more participants must be found.  As things
are now, the only participants left are a small handful of sysops.
Along with an even smaller handful of non-sysops.

A disappearing act would do just fine, if fidonet sysops want to
go into oblivion.  Just withdraw from the world and pretend it does
not exist.  Nobody will care.  Not even the 10 - 20 in the world
today who still bother reading messages, much less write.
