On 02-07-15, JANIS KRACHT said to BILL MCGARRITY:

>> Seriously? *Two* people claim that "pretty well all...", and two becomes

JK>My favorite part of Tim's message though was this section:

JK>"The current list of petition signers includes 9,029 PhD; 7,157 MS; 2,586
JK>MD and DVM; and 12,715 BS or equivalent academic degrees.

My fvorite part of Kracht's rebuttal is this:

JK> Most of the MD and DVM signers also have underlying degrees in basic
JK>science."

Notice how she tries to downplay the degrees? And tries to ignore the
`equivalent academic degrees'?

JK>Veterinarians????

Lecture Abstract: Climate change has been considered as the biggest global
health threat of the 21st century. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change (IPCC) and WHO the negative effects of changing temperatures
and precipitation on agricultural production, and therefore on food security
and undernutrition, constitute the largest single negative impact of climate
change on health in developing countries. Climate change and variability
impact the key underlying drivers of nutrition security, including food
security and household food access, access to proper maternal and child care
and environmental health and health access. At the same time undernutrition
undermines climate resilience and the climate adaptation capacity of
vulnerable populations.

The seminar presents a cross-sectoral analysis of the impacts of climate
change on nutrition security and the co-benefits to the environment and health
of nutrition-sensitive climate change mitigation and adaptation in the food
and agriculture sectors. Within broad efforts on climate-resilient sustainable
development, a combination of nutrition-sensitive climate adaptation and
mitigation, climate-smart agriculture focused in integrated farming systems
and smallholders, nutrition and health-sensitive adaptation throughout the
food chain, community based nutrition-sensitive risk reduction and women
empowerment are proposed to address the challenges of climate change to food
and nutrition in a sustainable manner. Co-benefits of climate mitigation that
aim to improve nutrition and reducing the carbon foot print from the whole
food sector through sustainable food production, sustainable food consumption,
and food waste reduction are explored. Sustainable diets have been identified
as strategic to direct consumers choices towards more sustainable and healthy
food patterns.

A human rights approach to climate mitigation and adaptation is essential to
create a climate for nutrition and health around the new Sustainable
Development Goals and the post 2015 development agenda. Adequate frameworks of
analysis and solid evidences are necessary to properly address nutrition and
health by the science-based assessments of the Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change (IPCC), and by the policies and actions formulated by the UN
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Bio: Dr. Cristina Tirado has been engaged on large international research
programs on health, food, environment, climate change and sustainable
development with WHO, FAO, WFP, WB, governments, NGOs and universities
worldwide. She has served as PAHO/WHO Adviser for Latin America, WHO Regional
Food Safety Adviser in Europe, Coordinator of the WHO Foodborne Surveillance
Program and Director of the PHI's Center for Climate Change and Health in
California. She is adviser for several UN organizations and she is affiliated
with the UCLA Institute of Environment and Sustainability. Her research
focuses on the co-benefits to health of sustainable development and of climate
adaptation and mitigation in the food and agriculture systems and green urban
development. She also focuses on the use of multi-criteria analysis for
decision making in climate change adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction. Dr.
Tirado has been contributing author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change (IPCC) AR4 in 2007 (IPCC co-shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore
in 2007). She is moderator of the UN Standing Committee of Nutrition WG on
Climate Change and chair of International Union of Nutritional Sciences task
force on Climate and Nutrition. She has been a partnerships driver for health
at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development Rio+20 and she is
mainstreaming health at the UN Framework Convention for Climate Change
(UNFCCC). She is involved in the thematic consultations for the Sustainable
Development Goals for the post 2015 development agenda and she is one of the
few academics invited by the UN Secretary General to the UN Climate Summit in
NY 2014. Dr. Tirado has authored numerous research and policy publications and
books.** She is a DVM,** with MS/PhD degrees in environmental sciences from
Cornell University.

Here's a gal who's a champion of the left's `global warming' mantra...And who
is dmv!

"Veterinarians"?

> Interesting read... sorta like puts a stake in the heart...

Kracht writes `interesting' stuff but...her snappy comebacks sort of
puts a stake in the heart of her point (forgive the pun!), don't they?

Typical democrat style; `experts for me..but none for thee'!

JK>Take care,

`Take care' indeed!
