Just because it's old doesn't make something a dinosaur. Yep, our main
offerings are messages (netmail/echomail) and files. I think regardless of
platform (wordpress etc.) it's the content that's king. So if I find folks
discussing stuff here in Fido that's of interest to me... it's just as good
as anything I may find elsewhere. So in that sense I don't think one platform
beats another. Granted, the others are far busier and offer a lot more
chatter etc.

You call it as you see it. They'll call it as they see it and so on. I take
out of this we have a vocal group of participants that are sometimes at odds
with each other and at other times can agree on a few things too ;) No one
really has a monopoly on point of view, and mines just another that folks can
agree with or think - nah...

How long do think it's been close to the bottom of the barrel?

I just ask out of curiosity. Are you comparing Fido 2015 with Fido 2000 or
1995? Just wondering...

I think the Internet is a means to interconnect folks, it's the services that
run over it that offer the value people consider they enjoy as a result of
using it. Fidonet can operate on those terms as well...

Agreed, it's not and I'm not trying to infer that, rather to simply state
that it's still here, uou and I (and the others reading this) are here etc.
So it's not like the light has been turned off completely.

..and the BBC with it's next attempt at introducing kids to computing is
working to address stuff like that. I bought a Raspberry Pi not too long ago.
Python programming is on my to-do list this winter (it's heading into autumn
here).
