We are all partisans here.  No non-partisans admitted.  So pick

Tom Jennings was the first editor of the Fidonews.  Tom Jennings
was/is a sysop.  All the other subsequent editors (except one) was
also a sysop.  The one exception being an alias/handle, not a real
person.

There is the official version, and there is the fake version.
But only the official version remains, as the fake version ran
out of gas some time ago.

the bravest man in Fidonet, or the stupidest!  So which is it?
You do realize The Red Queen is the official moderator of the
Echolist echo, do you not?  Check out the Echolist.  She is listed
right there!  The Red Queen herself!

Since the Fidonews is published by the Fidonet community, the
participants have every right to chat about whatever floats their
boat in their own echo.

There are some who claim it is.  However, that would be a misnomer.
The editor of the Fidonews is de facto and de jure also moderator of
the Fidonews echo by virtue of his position.  He was hired by the
entire Fidonet community, through the appointment of his immediate
predecessor.  That is the way it has worked since Tom Jennings,
with one exception, that one exception being when an editor died
in office.  Not sure how that can be fixed if it happens again,
as there is no longer an International Coordinator around to be
able to appoint another one.

Nobody pays any attention to rules anyway.  So what's the big deal?

There are no users here.  Only abusers.

There was an attempted coup e'etat not so long ago.  The Red Queen
herself led the charge, but failed miserably in her mad quest for
power.  Several of her underlings wound up getting thrown under the
bus, at least one of them resurfacing somewhere in facebook under
an assumed identity ...

Sysops and non-sysops have always been encouraged to write
articles (and other things) in the Fidonews.  Not just by the
current editor, but also by previous editors.  And hopefully
future editors will do the same.

I have contributed to the Fidonews.  Many others have done the same.
Perhaps you should also consider doing so.  I will not tell you what
to write, or how to write it.  That is totally up to you.

The benefit is the entire community of Fidonet.  Not just a small
group of partipants in this echo.  So get out your cyberpen and
start writing!  Or typing!  Challenge us all, leading by example!
