Somebody put it on the web, without attribution.  Not pointing
fingers.  Just noting a fact.  Simple search is all it takes.

This is not an uncommon practice.  I was at a bookstore the other
day, and going through some very nice hardbound cooking books, a
series by a major publisher.  The author of the cookbooks did not
write the recipes, but included them in the books.  No credit
was given to anybody who had written a recipe.  The author simply
collected the recipes and had them published, collecting all the
profits.  I could not find a single recipe in any of the books
written by the author.  Not a single one.

I would not doubt that some people scrounge the web and message
boards collecting whatever recipes they can find, then publish
those recipes themselves as an indie publisher in ebook form,
or print edition.  I am not saying that is an ethical practice.
Only that some people do that.

For hardcover books one would have to be more careful, as no
publisher would want to get sued.  But if an author is in a
position of trust (such as a food editor of a newspaper) then
it could be done.

Many people fail to protect their work.  If you create a recipe,
it is your own work.  A recipe is not just a simple list of
ingredients.  Throwing everything into a pot and hope it works
is not a recipe.  It is more than that.  Nobody has the right
to steal a work and call it their own, or profit from that work
without your consent.

Self-publishing has been a boon for fundraising.  A collection
of recipes is put together, the cookbooks sold, the proceeds used
for whatever purpose the group had in mind.  Sometimes the authors
of the recipes are noted, other times not.  What is to stop an
individual from stealing the work of an author who was not named
as being the author of a recipe?  Can an individual claim that
recipe as his/her own, and sell that recipe with all profits
for himself/herself?
