She got me thinking, too.  And hopefully everybody.

Partly.  Cyber security is a major concern, not just for governments,
but also for businesses and private individuals.  Clinton's successor
underfunded many programs, including research and development needed
to upgrade what we had then.  The current administration has been
better, but dogged by an obstructionist Congress.

It is so much more than that.

In its current format, the WWW is much too limited.  And that makes
it easier for those who want to create mischief to do so.  We are not
prepared now as to how to deal with this.  Not enough cyber security
experts to handle the situation.

In the USA, the starting pay for an entry-level job dealing with
cyber security is $88,000 a year.  That is with no experience.
Companies and state governments are paying the tab for the cost
of education/training for those who want to work in this field.

I have never been against elists/echolists, or the use of them.
My argument has always been the misuse of such.  That is why I have
always condemned *the* elist/echolist.

Change that to *an* elist, or *an* echolist.  Nothing official
about *an* elist, or *an* echolist.  The number of which can be
infinite.

No elist/echolist should be misused/abused.  The way to do that
is make sure that no elist/echolist is regarded as being official.
A moderator is free to use, or not use, an elist/echolist.  And
no party allowed to place restrictions on a moderator (such as
forcing a moderator to "update" an echo every six months in
order to keep the echo).

Again, use of an elist/echolist is optional, not mandatory.
The problem is misuse/abuse has taken place, and continues to
take place, with the existing elist/echolist.

Janis can be very helpful, when she wants to be.  But at this
stage, I think her candidate for president is beyond help.
On the other hand, so is mine.  So I guess we're all on the
same boat.  ;)
