Truthfully the hip operation they want to do costs more than what they would
pay if I had an artificial hip.  This is what they want to do to me.

1.  Using a Divinci Robot dissect and disassemble the hip joint socket 
    cleaning up years of old scar tissue and torn tissue that's rehealed.
    would be necessary if I had an artifical hip as the joint would need
    to come apart.

2.  Once my hip is out of the socket they want to break, and reset the bone 
    to correct a club foot from another injury years back that did not heal
    correctly.  (Doctor moved from country or I would have his ass for 
    malpractice, he's now practicing in the Cayman Islands). 

    This would not be necessary with the artificial hip as when they graft the 
    implant to the bone it would not need additional healing that a re-break
    would require. 

3.  They want to rebuild the hip socket, fix my torn labrum and it will be all
    bone.  The reasoning they are giving is it is better to do this because
    I am young.  I will have all "factory" parts this way and they gamble on
    if I will or need a hip replacement around my year 60.  

What the orthopedic doctor is saying is the surgery as proposed will cause me
more arthritus, and continued pain.  Artificial hip will not.  I will have a 2
year recovery time with this surgery vs a 6-8 month with artificial hip.

I believe, as does my doctor, that I will have a better quality of life with an
artificial hip... but the decision is made by insurance company beuracrats who
have no medical experience... they are administrators and their "research"
shows the repair is a better answer.

What I think is really going on is that the Insurance company knows I go on
Medicare in October and they are trying to offer me a "viable surgery" knowing
that anything done they will not have to pay for past October.  Once I am on
Medicare I am not their problem.  On medicare I will have access to much more,
however medicare does not handle vision, dental, or hearing needs.  I will have
to fight to keep my Dexcom glucometer monitor.  I will have to fight to keep
the same Bi-Pap machine that I have with oxygen concentrator and telemetry to
my respiratory specialist.  

My doctor knows the game... with this undesireable surgery on the table as
their solution I can't say they are neglecting me... but they know I will be on
Medicare in October and they want to wait out until then... October I am not
their problem anymore.
