 You're close.  However add in this:
 When the umbrella opens, it prevents heat from escaping.  The farther open the
umbrella is, the slower the liquid cools.


  Venus is a good case study for this. All signs point to that planet once
being fairly similar to ours in temperature. Now the surface temperatures are
hot enough to melt lead.
