You think your memory is perfect?  Nobody's memory is.  And I mean
nobody.  Not even the devil himself has a perfect memory.  What does
that tell you?

It is human to not remember things exactly as it happened.
In fact, it would be all too inhuman.  While I do know one
person who has a photographic memory, that is not the same
as having a perfect memory.

Eyewitness testimony in court of law should always be viewed
with suspicion.  But that is often not the case, as jurors tend
to believe (without question) whatever stories the eyewitness
tells.  Researchers have shown that false memories can be
planted.  Psychologists have done this in order to get a witness
to give false testimony, getting the witness to believe their
experience was real.

Since you claim to be an unbeliever, take a look at the gospel
accounts.  There are four of them, but let's stick with the
synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke).  Notice the details are
different in each account.  None of the accounts are exactly
the same.  You can easily find discrepancies, and imperfections.

Had the gospel accounts all been exactly the same, nobody would
believe them to be true.  Same thing when cops pick up a group
of suspects after a break-in.  If all the suspects tell the same
story, with exact details, the cops would know they are lying.

Memory is faulty.  We can all thank the goddess for that.
