I'll snip your trials here but I highly appreciate them as some of them I have
tried too without solution that was usable.

Lets be frank.  I can not afford at this time to destabilize my system as I'm
now Z6C.  I plan (among the moelhills, and a more topmost one) to setup a
secondary system with IP capability and if it proves *stable* to eventually
swap to it.  That system will be something i can understand the setup of, and
be tested for stabililty.  I do not even promise to be fast at it. Z6 has had
too many stability problems for me to muck with this issue.

I'll be posting with this software, and this stable system until _I_ am sure it
can handle the load on the new system when at best, it will need a voice call
from at sea to my husband to reboot and I can assure that that will fix (batch
file from hell on XP reboot?) any flaws.

My husband is a lovely man but just like me, he is perfectly imperfect.  He's
not a computer geek.  He finally figured out email this past underway and had
to have help several times because he flipped the 'who can I see toggle' to
like, unknown folks (not in the address book) and other things like that. 
He's a vry good man, but he has dyslexia and some visual disabilities that
severely hamper the learning curve and i know this so do not press it.  He can
however tear the BBS down hardware wide and replace anything. He just doesnt
know how to do more when it comes to the software.  I'll add that I love him
dearly and this is the only wierdness in our habits.  We are like tandem twins
in al other things.

Thats the other issue.  I can fix that, but the fix is a very *fugly ugly*
seesaw quote and i cant do it echo by echo. Its all or nothing.  It's so fugly
ugly that no one uses it.

Havent even checked if Chinese script might have some problem.  While we have a
few nodes listed there, they do not travel the mainstream echos often enough
to have generated any 'complaints'.

I do not know if a future China will grow in fidonet, but awareness should be
there that their codepage may conflict with some standard as well. I am in
favor of allowing any codepage to be used as long as the effect is cosmetic on
those who do not share the same one. I am adverse to mandating any one if it
costs us nodes.  Thats pretty simple but I think you catch my drift.
