    George Pope's Story was. . . . . .

   Greetings George Pope, like a young college student had stayed
                           up all night studying for his zoology test
                           the next day.. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..

  As he entered the classroom, he saw ten stands with ten birds on them
with a sack over each bird and only the legs showing. He sat right on
the front row because he wanted to do the best job possible. The professor
announced that the test would be to look at each of the birds' legs and
give the common name, habitat, genus, species, etc.

   The student looked at each of the birds' legs.  They all looked
the same to him.  He began to get upset.  He had stayed up all night
studying and now had to identify birds by their legs.  The more he
thought about it the madder he got.  Finally, he could stand it no
longer.  He went up to the professor's desk and said, "What a stupid
test!  How could anyone tell the difference of birds by looking at
their legs?"  With that the student threw his test on the professor's
desk and walked to the door.

   The professor was surprised.  The class was so big that he did not
know every student's name so as the student reached the door the
professor called, "Mister, what is your name?"

   The enraged student pulled up his pant legs and said, "You guess,
buddy!  You guess!"

  One of the best shens I ever pulled was back in high school during
computer programming class. We were using IBM PC jrs. (pieces of crap!)
I was sitting directly across from a girl in my class (cheerleader,
probably) and our computers were facing away from each other. A few
minutes into the class, she got up to leave the room and as soon as she
left, an idea so brilliant and merciless came upon me I just couldn't
resist trying it. I reached between our two computers and switched the
inputs for the keyboards. She came back and sat down and started typing
and immediately got a distressed look on her face. She called the
teacher over and explained that no matter what she typed, nothing would
happen. The teacher, in all of her computer omnipotence, tried
everything short of rebooting the computer. By this time I was hiding
behind my monitor and quaking red-faced. I started to type...  'Leave me
alone!' They both jumped back, silenced. 'What the..' The teacher said.
I typed 'I said leave me alone!' The cheerleader got real upset, 'I
didn't do anything to it, I swear!'  It was all I could do to hold my
water! The conversation between them and HAL 2000 went on for an amazing
five minutes. 'Don't touch me!' 'I'm sorry, I didn't *mean* to hit your
keys that hard.'  'Who do you think you are anyway?!'  'My name's
Melanie'  'That's a stupid name!' ....etc... Finally, I couldn't contain
myself any longer and fell out of my chair and about peed myself. After
they had realized what I had done, they both turned beet red!  Funny, I
never got more than a C- in that class... and come to think of it, never
got a date from any of the cheerleaders either! Life is great!

        My former boss had a variation he pulled on his partner.
Customer walked into showroom, asking for partner.  Boss said he would
get him, and that when partner came to greet him, please speak VERY
loudly, as partner is hard of hearing.  Now, boss goes to partner's
office and tells him there is a customer for him in the showroom, but he
is hard of hearing, so speak VERY loudly to him....!

        Boss and I had to leave the area, as we were in danger of
wetting clothing as these two shouted niceties at each other.... :^)
