In my case I am definetly further ahead today than I was three years ago, both
linuxie and probably neurally although not as much gain there as linuxie.  I've
been at this for quite some time and never had to deal with a stroke ... yet.

I've always had those problems.  Also hearing was never any good. Used to have
excellent eyesight which started deteriorating around 45-ish.

Works for me.  I am confident we'll come up with a reasonable cost that will
benefit both of us.

Same sh*t, different pile ... as they say.

Same.  I imagine basic cable is still NTSC your way as it is here. That is the
impression I got when listening to all the latest hype about digital
broadcasting coming from the Washington State direction.

I don't have a TV.  Haven't for ages now.  I am using an old Commodore montor
wired into a VCR via the RCA jack which is wired into cable. Other than cable
fees, the entire scheme cost next to nothing and has been working well for me
for coming on 20 years now.

NTSC.  I have one pci card with a bt878 that claims to be either NTSC or PAL. 
I am using it as we speak for testing kernel v4l2 stuff on the Xeon guy.  The
nice thing about this card is that I can output sound to wherever directly from
it and thus doesn't need for alsa or any other driver to understand it, which
it doesn't.  This way all it needs to do is output the video properly which it
does.

I'd muchly prefer a framegrabber.  That would be far more useful methinks.
