AROMATHERAPY RECIPES
Eucalyptus and Peppermint
Eucalyptus/Peppermint Diffusion The invigorating, refreshing and
purifying aromas of peppermint and eucalyptus oils can be subtly
diffused into the air.
Add 10 to 15 drops of either oil to about 1/4 cup of distilled water and
place in a ceramic aromatherapy lamp that uses a small candle as the
heat source. The gentle glow of the flickering candle heightens the
experience of the fragrant oils.
Suggested additions: Replace some of the drops of peppermint or
eucalyptus with one or more of the following oils to create your own
distinctly fragrant blend: lemon, basil, rosemary, lavender.
Invigorating Peppermint Bath
The powerfully minty aroma of peppermint can make an ordinary bath
an invigorating experience.
As you fill the bath add 5 to 10 drops of peppermint essential oil.
Stir the water to disperse the oil before entering. Alternatively you
can add the drops of oil to unscented bath salts or bubble bath:
Add 5 to 10 drops per ounce of bath salt or bubble bath and pour
the mixture into the tub.
Suggested additions: Replace some of the drops of peppermint with
one or more of the following oils to create your own distinctly fragrant
blend: spearmint, lemon, basil, rosemary, lavender.
Lemon Ylang
Lemon Ylang Mineral Bath
A lemon and ylang scented mineral bath is a delight for the senses.
Not too relaxing, and not too energizing either, this aroma awakens
your senses with a clean, sweet fragrance.
Mix together 2 tablespoons of sea salt, 1 tablespoon of baking soda
and 1 1/2 teaspoons of borax. Add 4 drops ylang ylang and 6 drops
lemon essential oils and mix well. Pour the mixture into the bath under
running water. Make sure the salts are completely dissolved and the
oils evenly dispersed throughout the water.
Suggested variation: A few drops of lavender will make this blend more
balancing.
Clarifying, Uplifting Lemon Diffusion
Lemon essential oil is perfect for clearing negative energy and
emotions. The bright, fresh scent of lemon can always be
counted on to help cheer a weary heart.
Add 10 to 15 drops of lemon oil to 1/4 cup of distilled water. Pour the
blend into a ceramic aromatherapy lamp or simmering potpourri pot.
Suggested variation: Other citrus oils such as orange, bergamot, lime
and grapefruit blend well with lemon.
Lavender and Orange
Lavender Orange Diffusion The diffused aroma of lavender and orange
essential oils can make your home smell like a fragrant orange grove or
sunny lavender field in the south of France.
Add 10 to 15 drops of either oil to 1/4 cup of distilled water. Put the
blend in a ceramic aromatherapy lamp or simmering potpourri pot.
Suggested variations: Make the citrus aroma more complex by adding
bergamot, grapefruit or lemon oils.
Lavender Orange Refresher Spray
This floral-fruity mist is a great way to refresh tired senses on plane
trips, long car rides or anytime you need a fragrant boost.
Add 9 drops of lavender and 7 drops of orange essential oil to 1 2/3
ounces of distilled water. Place in a spray bottle or atomizer. Shake
the bottle vigorously, then close your eyes and lightly mist your face
or personal space.
Suggested variations: Make the blend more floral by adding jasmine,
rose or ylang ylang. Make it more citrusy by substituting grapefruit,
lemon or tangerine for the lavender.
Lavender Orange Mineral Bath
Soak away your worries with this refreshing mineral bath.
Mix together 2 tablespoons of sea salt, 1 tablespoon of baking soda
and 1 1/2 teaspoons of borax. Add 5 drops of lavender and 5 drops of
orange essential oils and mix well. Pour the mixture into the bath under
running water. Make sure the salts are completely dissolved and that
the oils are evenly dispersed.
Suggested variations: You can make a relaxing bath by replacing the
orange essential oil with Roman chamomile, sandalwood or patchouli.
Juniper and Pine
Forest and Fruit Air Freshener This naturally refreshing room spray can
breathe life into rooms shut tight against winter weather.
Add 8 drops juniper berry and 8 drops pine essential oils to 1 2/3
ounces of distilled water. Pour into a bottle with spray atomizer
attachment. Shake the bottle vigorously and mist the room.
To make this blend more cheerful and uplifting, replace the pine with
lemon or bergamot essential oils.
Gently Clarifying Wintertime Aromatherapy Bath
Banish the hum drum of gray winter days with a soak scented with
lavender, pine and the fruity bouquet of juniper berry.
Add 3 drops juniper berry, 2 drops pine and 5 drops lavender essential
oils to a running bath. Stir the water to disperse the oils before bathing.
For a more luxurious and romantic experience, replace the pine with rose
essential oil and float fresh rose petals in the bath.
Cedarwood and Patchouli
Sensual Massage Oil Patchouli essential oil is sweet and balsamic -- an
exotic, amorous fragrance. Create a sensual massage oil by adding 4
drops neroli, 4 drops patchouli and 4 drops sandalwood essential oils to
3 ounces of jojoba oil.
This blend can be made more uplifting by substituting bergamot for the
sandalwood oil.
Relaxing Cedarwood Diffusion
Cedarwood essential oil has a woody, relaxing fragrance. Its fresh,
balsamic aroma supports and strengthens the human spirit.
Combine 30 drops cedarwood, 30 drops lavender, 15 drops rose otto
or absolute and 25 drops sandalwood. Add 16 drops of this mixture to
1/4 cup distilled water. Pour into a ceramic aromatherapy lamp.
A deeply meditative blend can be created by substituting myrrh oil
for the lavender in this recipe.
NOTE: Cedarwood oil is not recommended for use by pregnant women.
Liquid Soap for Oily Skin
Cedarwood and patchouli essential oils are naturally astringent and are
a fragrant addition to the bath or shower. Try adding this refreshing
blend of essential oils to 3 ounces of unscented liquid soap or shower gel:
6 drops bergamot, 3 drops cedarwood and 3 drops patchouli.
Cedarwood is not recommended for use by pregnant women. Sandalwood
may be used as a substitute.
Exotic Perfumed Hair Oil
The tenacious character of both cedarwood and patchouli have made the
scents popular as fixatives in the making of fine perfumes.
This recipe for a spicy, exotic perfume blend takes advantage of
cedarwood and patchouli's staying power. Jojoba oil is a natural liquid
wax that nourishes the hair shaft. The proteins in the hair absorb and hold
the fragrant essential oils in this blend.
Combine 30 drops bergamot, 10 drops cedarwood, 10 drops tangerine,
10 drops myrrh, 10 drops patchouli and 10 drops rose. Add 12 drops
of this blend to 3 ounces of jojoba oil and massage a few drops into
freshly shampooed scalp and hair.
Please note: Bach Flower Remedies and FES flower essences are noted
respectively by (B) and (F). If you'd like to use flower essences in these
combinations use 2-4 drops each.

Today's Tip
Just in time for Valentines Day
Scented Beeswax Heart
Scent a room with this decorative accent. Use a cookie cutter to cut a
heart shape from a sheet of natural beeswax. Wrap the heart in
cheesecloth and infuse it with a few drops of Rose Otto.
Place the wrapped heart in a plastic bag for a week. Remove and
discard
the cloth and glue a ribbon hanger to the back of the heart. You can
even decorate it with dried flowers and a bow. Hang it in the kitchen
or
even the bath!!
Enjoy!!!
Aromatherapy Silly Putty

1 T Elmers White Glue
1 T Laundry Starch
5 dr EO Of Your Choice
I found out it's a bit better to use a tad more starch than glue.
I used a yogurt cup and old popsicle stick to stir it up good,
after a short while it becomes a very stiff goo-glob that easily
comes off the sides of the cup, stir stick. Than it's about done..
I added some Mandarin Eo, that gave it a pleasant smell and
we will see how my kids will react to it...
Since the mandarin is low on sensitivity and I have no allergic
kids in this group it might be fun to see if it calms some down..
You can add a bit of food coloring, Store those plastic easter
eggs for them to take the silly putty home.

1/4 t EO Of Lavender
1/4 t EO Of Cedarwood
16 6" Cloth Squares,Cut With Pinkers
16 Pieces Of String (Or Ribbon)
[Note: Jackie griswold @ themestream.Com]
The moth balls you can buy commercially have an awful scent, can
stain clothes, and often content very toxic chemicals. If you prefer a
safe, natural alternative, try these sachets. These can be tossed in
your chests or drawers, or hung from your closet rods.
Makes 16 moth repellent sachets
Add the essential oils to the lavender flowers and mix well. Place the
scented lavender in a glass jar for a day or so to give the essential
oils a chance to permeate the flowers. Lay out the fabric squares
with the outside facing down. Place a heaping teaspoon of lavender
flowers on each fabric square.
Bring the edges of the fabric together and tie with ribbon or string.
Place your moth "balls" in with your woolens or in with off-season
clothes to keep them fresh.

the block inside the pot. Insert the stick upright into the center of
