Normally not. But is your telephone line also running through the surge =
protector? If the device was working correctly it should be. Most surge =
protectors in the last couple of decades also provide surge protection = for
the telephone line and it should be used, that dumb carbon block the = telco
uses was not designed to protect modern electronics. If I remember = its
failure point is 700 volts, and the instantaneous peak voltage that = can occur
before it fails is magnitudes of orders higher.=20
Bottom line, if the surge protector has issues, you are going to have = issues
with everything it touches.

Tonight I am online with the P II and while the power has not cut out,
the connection has been terminated several times. Could the phone
connection being terminated do something to the electricity?
