And irrelevant. You're making claims about how you are unable to =
make sense of warning messages and icons and believe others are = similarly
incapable. If you have to change the topic as much as you are = trying I would
doubt you feel that strongly about your claims.
And eeye does release exploits. That is a big part of how they =
advertise as you point out. The responsible and helpful people you = never
hear about.

No, winnuke, slammer, and msblast didn't require you to do anything =
before allowing anonymous remote users to screw with your machine. = That's
what I was trying to point out, even without a user at all the = software has
never been "sufficient".
If the guys from eeye wrote worms instead of worked to secure windows, =
what do you think would be happening to your sufficient software? I'll = give
you a clue, read the first 3 exploitable yet still unpatched = problems they've
recently found listed here =
http://www.eeye.com/html/research/upcoming/index.html
Perhaps I should suggest to Marc that he release exploit code to prove =
how sufficient the software is?
Geo.
"Rich" <@> wrote in message news:42c62188@w3.nls.net...
Winnuke forced you to download what you hoped were pictures of J =
Lo and to ignore the warning that this may be unsafe and to run the = program
you were actually downloading? That is amazing! How many of = your machines
are infected with trojans? How often does this happen to = you? Would a
different color icon help you?
Rich
p.s. I think read all as text is ridiculous. I would agree =
entirely it is the kind of silly nonsense you like that distracts from = any
real issue.
"Geo" <georger@nls.net> wrote in message =

No it hasn't been sufficient, winnuke was proof of that, slammer =
proved it again, and msblast proved it yet again. And then there are the =
"features" that promote even more of this nonsense, like allowing a = website
to change my homepage or add itself to my bookmarks because of = some
misleading link on the page that says <back> or something.
This stupid computer can question every time I hit cancel the damn =
spellcheck but it can't ask me if I really wanted to change my homepage = via a
link on an untrusted zone site? And then on top of that no = programmer in the
IE group has ever thought to add a "lock homepage via = password" feature?
Sufficient, jesus, how many years did it take to get "read all as =
text" added to OE?
Rich, as a friend, you need to get away from work for a couple =
months because if you honestly believe that, you've really been buried = in
that place too long.
Geo.
"Rich" <@> wrote in message news:42c41d63$1@w3.nls.net...
There is but the problem here with the users and there really =
isn't any room for improvement in them. The software has been = sufficient for
you to avoid getting all your machine infected.

Gee Rich, for years you come across like there is no room for =
improvement in any piece of software.
