Some of that may be true but if you have 300ms lag then even cache is going to
be slower than someone with only 100ms lag. The machines still have to chat
back and forth, you just save a little by not downloading some of the graphics
and such. Unless you are 56K, the amount of time you save downloading 6
different 4k graphics is nothing major.

Every machine I've worked on I've set the cache to some really low number
(1mb-5mb) and nobody has ever complained that they thought their computer was
running slower, many have commented how much faster their "internet" starts up.

It's one of those YMMV type things but it just seems to me that part of the
internet configuration routine should be to check and see if it makes sense to
minimize or maximize the browser cache as a function of their connection speed.
For that matter it makes sense for the browser to do this every time it starts
up.
