Unfortunately they are on our allies and trading partners. Japan gets 90% of
its oil from them and until recently Europe got 80% of their oil from them.
They are trying to shift to Russia now, but they are not able to deliver
dependable oil supplies.

If things get bad enough for our allies, it will affect us in many ways.

But I agree, they can only raise the price so high, but how high is high?
