Kind of hard to invite us in when the guys running the country kill you for
doing things like that, don't you think?  I know for a fact that most Iraqis
are very grateful to us for having freed them from a tyrannical dictator and a
butcher.

Yeah, I believe it was true.  There is an element of the American press that
takes great pleasure in denigrating the US, in showing news that makes America
look bad.  But even if they didn't do that sort of thing, we have other sources
for the news - and not everybody is in on some conspiracy to tell lies as you
imply.

First, you spell it "lie" not "lye." And who lied?  We based our information
about WMDs on intelligence from all around the world.  If we lied, then so did
every other intelligence agency in the non-arab world.  Are you really so
stupid that you think there was some kind of conspiracy among all those groups
to provide us with an excuse to invade Iraq?  In point of fact, Saddam did have
most of what we claimed he did, he just managed to get rid of most of it
without getting found out, because EVERYBODY thought he still had the stuff. 
So we (along with everybody else) were wrong about WMDs.  So what?  Doesn't
change a thing.  We were still justified in taking out Saddam.

You don't really understand much about America, do you?  Or Americans either
for that matter.

Alan has a tendency to believe in conspiracies that don't exist. Besides, he
read our opinions on the matter in talking to you.  He knew what we thought of
it, so there was no need to rehash things just for him.

We have what is called a "tabloid press" in this country.  Most of the time
such stuff as you are talking about shows up there.  Its the crap you read for
entertainment while waiting in line at the supermarket checkout counter. 
"Elvis's Alien Love Child" or similar stuff is normal fare for them.  Once in
awhile, one of the so-called "legitimate press" will lift a story from The
National Enquirer or some other tabloid rag.  Its all called "yellow
journalism" if you take an historical approach.  Another term for it is
propaganda.

I daresay a very large percentage of what you THINK you know about the US is
based on such bullshit.  I've noticed you Euros tend not to differentiate
between legit news and tabloid news to any great extent.
