I've been known to do such things as well.  I use my constitutional rights, and
believe more should.  "What you don't use, you lose." I insist on my "right to
be let alone."  I will exercise any right given me which enhances that.  My
forefathers and yours fought for them.  THey understood some fundamental truths
that we've all but forgotten in this country. AGain, to paraphrase Mr.
Franklin: HE who would give up a little liberty for a little security deserves
neither. Like bob A I've upset more than one flunky from the census bureau.

Now, otoh, the Federal COmmunications commission states that by granting me the
amateur radio license they *do* have the right to inspect my station facilities
at any time they so choose. My station is legally operated and is within proper
specifications.  I will gladly if ever required show the inspector from the
commission my station facilities, both in my van, in my remote truck, and in my
home. WE will march him/her into the place, directly to the radio room/office,
where he/she can take any measurements desired. Still, I will verify first that
said inspector at my door actually *is* from the local engineer in charge of
the FCC before granting them entry.

I do not yet live in a totalitarian state, and
until such time as the constitution is overturned (they're workin' on that) I
will exercise my constitutional rights.
