Ärende: The solution(s).

 Just reading in the paper, about the mortgage crises, which
 becomes the credit crisis, about the closing of a factory in an
 Ohio Town, a major employer, and the problems with education.

 I have gone into some of my solutions in the past, so I think
 I'll repeat them and add some new.

 For the credit crisis, my first step solution is, repeal the
 changes to the bankruptcy laws that favored credit card
 companies, passed a few years back. If they faced the real world
 possibility of losing their money they would be more careful
 about handing out credit.

 That and clearing the books lets those in debt, most of whom are
 there because of a job loss or medical emergency or death in the
 family, start over.

 As to job losses, and company closings and export of jobs...

 Move payroll taxes to a sales tax. That means social security
 and medicare and unemployment. Others to be considered as we go.

 Make it revenue neutral. This will give American production and
 service as immediate advantage of as much as 14% on costs.

 Of course close all tax advantages for foreign investment and
 foreign offices.

 Now, to education. I am focusing on a small portion here.

 One of the big complaints is the inability to recruit people
 with experience, whether in business or technology or skilled
 trades, to teach the next generation. I have looked at it, and
 see a good reason. Money.

 About 25 years back I looked into teaching, and couldn't take
 the pay cut. Now I am close to retirement, and have a pension,
 so I could make it with social security and my pension added to
 the low salary I would make as a starting teacher. Retiring at
 62, I could work till 67, the current social security age for
 full retirement for people my age.

 Whoops... If I retire at 62 I lose $1 for every $2 I earn, until
 I reach 65. Or is it 67? IOW, I can't retire and teach, because
 I will not have my social security.

 OK, how about this... amend the law so that those who retire and
 62, and go into teaching, do not have their teaching income
 deducted from social security. That way people like me, tech
 types, or businessmen, or skilled trades, or even economists or
 scientists, or whatever, could switch to teaching what they have
 spent a lifetime learning. They might still not find it
 economically feasible, for some, or for many, but it would
 become more feasible for a lot of people. I believe it would for
 me.

 These three are my current first steps to a solution of some of
 our problems. Think about them.
