Ithaca especially has been a hotbed of alternative medicine and natural
foods... for years...  That's the home of the Moosewood Restaurant,
after all...  which has been around since about the time I was a new
mom... ;)    But I've been seeing evidence of the movement spreading
pretty far and wide... including herbals for health...

Dunno... way back when I was in La Leche League, there was a book out
called The Family Bed... it made a pretty good case for it being a
natural (and safe) alternative.  One of the points made was that in
other, and earlier, cultures, the idea of having separate beds for each
member of the family was unheard of.  Of course, I've known some people
I'd not think would be good candidates for it... the ones that go to bed
in a drunken or drugged stupor, for example... they are much more likely
to overlie the child... but, then, they are also more likely to have
breathing problems themselves as well.

I'm seeing "milk" from more and more sources commercially lately... Of
course, soymilk and rice milk have been around for ages, and almond milk
is a newer entry.  And then I just saw an ad for hemp milk...  :)

BAD puppies...!  (G)  Your penned in area will just have to get larger,
to accomodate all the garden that needs to be protected from their
gambols...  ;)

Wegmans Nature's Marketplace has a lot of the ones I mentioned above...
probably have the coconut milk too... and who knows what else.. ;)  The
dairy intolerances probably do have a lot to do with the burgeoning
variety we see...   :)  I note also that the Almond milks proclaim their
soy-free-ness as well as their lactose-free-ness.  ;)
