Hi hap,

Afraid they might hunt you down and take revenge? (G) Our school was
built in the 30s as part of the WPA program, as were quite a few in the
area.  They all looked similar--you knew it was the town school.
Traveling the country, I've seen quite a few more that have the same
basic look.  I know mine has been remodeled, and I presume others have
as well.  Most of the time the remodel job is done at the back part of
the school or internally so as not to destroy the "curb appeal" it
seems.

AFN-TV came to Europe in the 70s as I recall.  Microwaves were around,
but just not for home use yet. It was a good way to ease the girls into
cooking by fun things.  BTW, "plate-o" was their name for the omelettes
since they were made on a plate.

And you all managed to have fun in spite of no tv or microwave. (G) By
the time we hit Germany, most of the recreational facilities had shut
down other than the youth (school age children) services and a bowling
alley in Frankfurt.  I don't think Berlin had a bowling alley.  Instead
of snack bars, the kids would go to Burger King.
