If you get to Santorini, the Santo winery does tastings, although you
have to pay.  When I was there, a tasting of any 5 wines cost E5.  The
wines were served in 150 ml glasses, which allowed me and 4 friends to
all sample the wines.  The last one tried was the 1996 Vinsanto, which
sold at the winery for E45 a bottle, so the value of the wine in that
glass would have been more than the E5 paid.  I had first sip, and
then tried to tell the others that it was terrible, and not worth them
even trying, but unfortunately they saw the beatific expression on my
face, and demanded their share.   Raisin-honey sweet, it was
beautifully balanced, and truly fit to be served on Mt Olympus.

Like a large proportion of the population around here.  Anglos are
probably now in a minority here, like everyone else.  New people next
door at the back - Italian with Thai wife, aborigines across the road,
Pakistanis next door, then Indian, then central African, Afghan,
Nigerian, Iranian, Filipino, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Chinese.  It all
leads to the local shops and restaurants stocking a good range of
fresh and prepared foods.

I will do that.  Kevin still hasn't found anywhere to live.  His
deadline is 5th October, but he has hopes that he can get that
extended if necessary.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: Geema Kerrie - Ground Meat Curry - South Africa
 Categories: African, Groundmeat, Lamb, Chilies, Beef
      Yield: 6 Servings
 
      2 lb Ground Beef Or Lamb
      3 sm Onions; Chopped
    1/4 c  Oil
      2 tb Ginger; Grated
      4    Cloves Garlic
    1/2 ts Salt
      2 lg Tomatoes
      2    Chili Peppers
      2 tb Curry Powder
    1/2 tb Turmeric
      1 tb Ghurum Masala
 
  Brown meat over moderate heat.  Set aside.  In a separate large
  skillet, gently fry onions in oil just until golden  brown.
  Meanwhile, pound or grind the ginger and garlic into a paste.  When
  onions are ready, add to skillet the ginger/garlic paste, salt,
  tomatoes, chilies, curry powder and turmeric.  Finallly, stir in the
  meat and continue simmering for about 20 minutes, or until well
  cooked. Remove from heat, mix in ghurum masala, and serve with rice
  or indian bread.

  NOTES: True curries use a blend of spices tailored to each dish
  rather than a purchased curry powder.  This adaptation has the
