Ärende: back to school                                           [1]
====================================================================
Hi Hap,

-> -> Is that why you're still wired?

-> HN> Always have been, always will be!

-> Some people are like that. The seminary president here is one; by the
-> end of the day, you can't hardly write fast enough to take decent notes.
-> I know, I had him as an instructor for part of my first class when we
-> started. That class ended at 9 pm; Steve had him for a 3 hour class that
-> went from 3:30-6:30 pm the same day.

 HN> Better to face life with energy and
 HN> joy!

This man is like the Energizer Bunny running on a super charged mode!
During week 2 of the semester, he found out he needed major sugery,
yesterday. He pulled out his calendar and asked if it could be scheduled
for 6 months later. His wife and doctors over ruled him; he had it a
couple of days later--but was back to work (from home) a couple of weeks
later, back in class about a month after surgery.

-> -> HN> We also have mini quiches for "just in case"

-> -> Now that sounds like a good idea! What size pan do you use for them?

-> HN> Pre made and frozen from Trader Joe's.
-> HN> Several different flavors and just
-> HN> the right size for one.

-> OK, I thought you made them. I'll look at them at TJ's and decide if I
-> want to buy them or take the time to do my own. I was thinking of doing
-> individual turkey pot pies for supper but decided to use up some odds
-> and ends I had in the fridge. Those, with a just bought bag of spinach,
-> went into bebimbap. First time I've made it but Steve said the recipe
-> (from newest Cooking Light) is a keeper.

 HN> I do make quiches but they are larger
 HN> than the ones from TJ's and I freeze
 HN> them after I make them. When I bring
 HN> one of those out it is usually for
 HN> dinner or several breakfasts.

The pot pies were a nice size; I had some ramekins that held a good
serving but supplimented the meal with Harvard beets. I needed to cut
the pastry circles for the top, had to find a template quickly. Found a
plastic cover to one of our Pyrex bowls worked well--right size and cut
thru the thin pastry so I could mark & cut in one step. The plastic
cover was good for popping out the couple that wanted to stick as well.

-> HN> If I'm scrambling eggs, two is fine
->  HN> if I'm making omelettes it's gotta
->  HN> be a three egger.

-> I did a one egg scramble today because I had some browned mashed
-> potatoes to go with it. Didn't bother to take the time to cook grits so
-> had a banana, large (10 oz) orange juice & British blend hot tea to go
-> with it. Potatoes were maybe about 1/3 cup, left over from a couple of
-> nights ago--not worth making into potato cakes but not worth tossing out

 HN> One is just not enough egg to
 HN> satisfy me...sometimes two
 HN> don't seem to be enough either!

Depends on the person & the appetite.

->  HN> Anne suffers quite a bit.

-> Air conditioning is a big help times like that, especially if the
-> filters are kept clean.

 HN> We only have one airconditioner and
 HN> it's for bedroom use. Not being
 HN> used at all this time of year!

I appreciate having it at least 6 months of the year, whole house. But,
where we live, it's very much a necessity.

->  HN> She's really been suffering..and
-> HN> this morning it seems her back has
-> HN> "gone out" as well!

-> But you had a good visit with Amanda in that time, I presume.

 HN> We had a great time with Amanda!
 HN> She's safely back in Sacramento
 HN> at her office now, but we sure
 HN> enjoyed the short visit!! It was
 HN> great for Anne's morale and mine
 HN> too!

Figured it would be. Probably didn't do anything special but just "hung
around" which was perfectly fine?

Catch you later,
