Ärende: Another Ithaca Farmer's Market [1]

Hi Ruth,

> Did he try it straight or in something? If you try it straight, it is

He had it on some food, and mixed in with some food.. just too hot.. no
accounting for taste (g). I think he's just used to bottled hot sauce.. and is
used to that level of "heat".

Generally, I know that those restaurants (the authentic ones) make HOT way to
hot for me, so mild works fine :)

hehe.. well, if it is pushing that HFCS isn't "natural" that's something (g)
Even if it didn't mean to.. sounds like it if I understand your description. :)

Ever try it without sugar? I haven't put up pickles in a long time so I can't
even remember how much sugar if any I put in.. :) I seem to remember one
recipe that used a bit of sugar but IIRC my Dill recipe didn't use any.. guess
it depends on the recipe really.

> Not fun; we don't even have one.

We can foot it for a while, but I'm sure there are a lot of things I'd rather
do with the $$ that the 2nd mortage is using (G) This new house is going to
cost a bit less in winter, which is great... and the house in Windsor won't be
as bad utility-wise since we won't be heating it to "live in".

Oh no doubt in my mind the fracking is not a great thing to live near.. that's
one of the things I like about the Ithaca/Tomkins County area.. It doesn't look
like it's going to be approved around here, which I'm really glad about. In
Broome county, I was sick to see that the water used from fracking is actually
used on 17 and other major roads to clean the roadways.. now where does that
water run off to? eek...

No, it's not an elevator, just a lift.. but it must be a good one is all I can
figure. The previous owner had it removed before we moved in, so I'm not sure
of it's features, etc.

>> and couldn't. That's a shame.. we told him if we're able to sell it,
>> we'll send him the $$ but he didn't want to hear about that either
>> (g).

> You may appreciate it on your bad days.

Nah, I'd never do that. It's one of those things I decided a long time ago..
no wheelchairs, no lifts. The worst I'll come to is going slowly up the stairs
:) Anyone in a hurry can whiz around me haha

>>> Understand :( Darn immune systems have a mind of their own sometimes
>>> it seems :(

>> > Seems that way, doesn't it? (G)

>> Oh yes.. something those in my family have had to deal with for a long
>> time :(

> My mom really needed it for some years before they put it in--just had

> to do so. (G)

Lifts can be good for some people, no doubt.. especially if they just can't
take making the stairway steps. For me, it's just slow, that's all. It's
actually getting easier now that I've been doing it more often. No doubt it's
the exercise it forces you into.. which is always what I figured and why I made
the decision to avoid things that would avoid using stairs.

Sausage and Peppers

Could be.. :)

==Pesto and Peas==
5 oz. frozen spinach, defrosted
8 oz. frozen peas, defrosted
1/2 cup pesto
1/2 cup mayonaise
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup olive oil
Salt, pepper
12 oz. Farfalle or Campanelle or a combination of both

Make the macaroni and drain.
Mix the pesto and mayonaisse, and add the spinach. Process in a food processor
until smooth. Toss the macaroni with the pesto and mayonaisse, then add lemon
juice, oil and salt/pepper. Add the peas and correct the seasoning. Serve at
room temperature.
