I didn't know that. Thanx. I used to use a sox called News Reactor (its icon
was a nuclear trefoil) as a back-up to NewsBin - but, when its developer went
to shareware I deleted it as I didn't consider it worth the $$$. NewBin, now
... I paid the shareware fee gladly.

I know that $cumcast used to offer a (somewhat limited) news server. I'll have
to check out teranews and motzarella. Previously the only free NNTP servers I
have found have been from university systems and were quite limited. I can't
imagine a free NNTP server carrying many of the binary groups ... I just
updated the message headers in alt.binaries.multimedia and alt.binaries.dvd and
in the four days since the previous update there were 40K+ new posts in
multimedia and 49K+ posts in dvd.

Most of those were "warez" posts which headers got sent to the bit buckets,
right smartly. And many were foreign (to me) language stuff or in PAL (Euro)
format ... so, bit bucket time for them.

Ross and I have butted heads in the politics echoes so many time I can't
imagine going to him, hat in hand, and asking for NNTP access.   Bv))=

One of my new "finds" is alt.binaries.multimedia cooking ... from which I am
downloading the four disc set of Julia & Jacques - Cooking at Home. As well as
a number of .pdf files of ethnic and ancient cookbooks from the Gutenberg
Project.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Mutton Broth
 Categories: Lamb/mutton, Soups, Grains
      Yield: 2 quarts

      3 lb Mutton; from the neck
      2 qt Cold water
      1 ts Salt
        pn Pepper
      3 tb Rice
           +=OR=+
      3 tb Barley

  Wipe meat, remove skin and fat, and cut in small pieces. Put
  into kettle with bones, and cover with cold water. Heat
  gradually to boiling-point, skim, then season with salt and
  pepper.

  Cook slowly until meat is tender, strain, and remove fat.

  Reheat to boiling-point, add rice or barley, and cook until
  rice or barley is tender. If barley is used, soak over night
  in cold water. Some of the meat may be served with the
  broth.
