It's a nice theory...  One has to have half a mind functioning to keep
track of even the clever identifiers, though...

And then hope one doesn't lose the slip of paper in the meantime... and
assuming, of course, that one has a handy pencil and paper.. ;)

Another point in favor of maybe needing less yet...

Thankfully that is being phased out... I understand that there could be
good reason for a doctor to have to just keep going long after a normal
shift was ended... and have on occasion had to just do that myself as a
healthcare provider/manager.. but it isn't something desirable to do on
a regular basis...

One needs something somewhere between those two...  A skeleton crew
sometimes just isn't enough to handle a full ward... been a patient (and
an observer) more than once when there really just wasn't enough
staffing...

To some extent.  In many instances, it's a case of degree rather than
totally different...  :)
