I am reminded again of the Bazooka bubble gum comic in which
a balanced diet is illustrated by a kid holding an ice cream
cone in each hand (I've brought this up here before). Though
for me it would be a pound of brisket in one hand and a chicken
thigh in the other.

Lactose tastes not much different from ordinary sugar,
though, being more hygroscopic, it tends to be slightly
less sweet and causing a slightly different texture. I
don't think it appears in formulas for culinary reasons,
though, but because the dairy industry has evilly got
its hooks into everything.

On the other hand, I've averted more than one accident by
casually remarking to my brother that there was a car coming
up that he didn't notice. Yes, he's gotten into scrapes by
not noticing things that to me would be pretty obvious.

This is getting into dangerous territory, but I don't see
that a benevolent deity would want me to waste society's
resources by lying inert hooked up to a bunch of wires and
tubes.

      Title: Tri-Color Cake **
 Categories: Desserts, Freezer, Sherbet, Ice cream
   Servings:  6

      1    Angel food loaf cake
    1/2 ts Almond extract
      1 pt Chocolate ice cream; soft
      1 c  Whipping cream; whipped and
           - sweetened
      1 pt Raspberry sherbet; soft

  Cut cake lengthwise into 4 equal layers. Spread chocolate ice cream on 2
  layers; spread raspberry sherbet on remaining 2 layers. Stack layers on
  serving platter, beginning with chocolate and alternating sherbet; freeze
  several hr or overnight. Fold almond extract into whipped cream. Frost
  sides of cake with whipped cream; decorate top and bottom edges of cake
  with whipped cream piped through decorator tube. Return to freezer until
  cream is firm, at least 1 hr.
