Agreed.

He also had a very good earlier role in "The Eagle has Landed".

Although using a fake german accent, he played his role well.

Another movie I remember him from other than the ones he's well known for was
the one where he was an oil engineer (or kook case).. what was the name of that
movie?  I've been wanting to buy it.  I saw it ONCE, but the role he played
still sits in the foggy parts of my brain, and I kinda NEED to see it again.

I am not familiar with that one, but it gives me something to find, and see.

To get into Martin Sheen would require a thread in itself... he has done MANY
motion pictures, some good, some questionable. He has always taken the "serious
actor" aproach in all his endevours that I know of, and as he has matured he
has done nothing but get better and better. I consider him a fine actor, and at
the level he is, I feel he could play any role he put his mind to, and deliver
top rated performance. He was never a slouch.

I could't give a shit about actors personal lives.  I only care about their on
screen perforances, as that is what I pay to see.

IMO Emilio is better than Charlie WRT to acting, but neither of the sons are as
good as Martin is.  I still find his Gen. Lee (Martin) perfomance to be an
outstanding piece of workmanship.

I did like Charlie in Platoon though... but that is the ONLY role I ever likes
him in.  It also did very much remind me of his father not only in the time
setting and war it involved, but looking back at it the younger Martin Sheen,
and his son, bear a very striking image of each other. (In Apocolypse).

Charlie lost it for me when he got involved in the parody movies he got
involved with. (That "stupid" acting you spoke of).
That's usually a sign of the quick buck vs. serious actor sellout.

HAH-HAH! There's that personal life stuff on the acotrs again ;> Thank GOD you
don't watch soap operas (or do you?)...

I never considered him a "good actor"... just noted his part in the movie as a
younger actor.  He got lucky and cast in a role that made him known with Star
Wars.  His Indiana Jones bit never showed good acting skills as the nature of
the movies were "comic book" and almost aybody could have done that.

The note was like if one goes back and watches "twighlight zone" episodes and
sees how any actors they can recognize who later became famous.

Ah... the movie that spawned "Happy Days".  I didn't realize that was him, as I
haven't watched America graffitti in a good 15 years.  I betcha I'll see it
soon though, since you mentioned it :)

On a close... since the father/son actor thing came up.  The Sutherlands...
Donald or Kiefer?  Who do you think is better?
