JS>>>>>>> Sorry Björn, but your tyrade about the the USA and all of
JS>>>>>>> it'supposed faults has become laughable.
BF>>>>>> I'm sure that e.g. the Iraqi and the Afghani people don't
BF>>>>>> find this a laughing matter.
JS>>>>> No... THAT is not a laughing matter.
RW>>>> But it is a laughing matter that the world's media make us the
RW>>>> killers of those people, when in fact it's the terrorists who do
RW>>>> most of the killing.
JS>>> I still don't think it is laughable.
RW>> You're right, mis-reporting of the news isn't a laughing matter.
RW>> However, the 1st Amendment allows it.
JS> Yes, the 1st Amendment does allow for freedom of the press. But
JS> to me it would only seem right in the exercising of that freedom that
JS> the press would endever to be accurate and unbiased in their
JS> reporting.
That's my point. They aren't. They have their own agenda, which is to make
America look as bad as they can, for their own political reasons. The Uros
are picking up on that and believe it.
JS> Course that is a concept that does not factor in money making and
JS> politics. Both of which have infected the press to the extent that
JS> one can no longer trust in what the press is reporting to be accurate
JS> and in some cases even true.
Ack.
JS>>> I think the yuesae has a number of faults. And some of the world
JS>>> media and some of our media too make a point of coloring the news
JS>>> to make the news appear how they would like everyone to see it.
The trouble I see with it is that outsiders like Felten pick up on it and
it suits his 'America bashing' agenda. Among others here.
RW>> Meaning that the left leaning media has a hidden agenda.
JS> Or so they might think. If it was that hidden more people would
JS> take the reporting more seriously.
It does look obvious, doesn't it.
JS>>> My faith in seeing news that is "Fair and balanced" <g> is
JS>>> dwindling.
RW>> You're not alone. The "Fair and balanced" news reporting agency is
RW>> the most watched, while such left leaning agencies as CNN are losing
RW>> their audiences.
JS> They lost me as part of their audience quite some time ago. I
JS> would get a kick of the news reporters that would ask the same
JS> questions over and over until they got an answer that suggested what
JS> they wanted the news to say. Something I seen in both FOX and CNN.
JS> Course then there is the BBC.
Worst case scenario, BBC. I began to notice more and more that certain
reporters would offer their opinion of the news. That was years ago when a
female reporter for a local TV station in San Diego would half report an
incident and then give us her opinion. I'm not interested in her opinion,
just report the news like it happened. A little later on, that station
began a 'station opinion comment' program that concluded with life
threatening messages from the public. They soon stopped that program and
the comentator left town in fear of his life.
JS>>> Hell, if the media doesn't have the news they want. No problem,
JS>>> they'll just make it up.
RW>> Or show selective choices of news that would support their agenda.
RW>> Leaving out that which wouldn't support it.
JS> A common tactic. Cut and paste the news to say whay one would
JS> like it to say. Can you tell that I have a problem with the press??
JS> <g>
Yes. I don't have that problem anymore, as I don't read the press, except
the local rag which has very little news outside of the community.
JS>>> The media IMO are just becoming one big group of tabloid
JS>>> journalism.
RW>> Maybe.
JS> I am sure that not all press are involved to the same degree.
JS> But the more visible press like CNN, FOX, Minneapolis Star & Tribune
JS> <g> are.
It's surprising that we have such a diverse media around here. The Austin,
Houston and San Antonio papers are imported and they all quote articles
that originate in Dallas. Of course I don't read them except on the
occasion I find a copy at a barber or lunch counter.
JS>>> There isn't enough money in merely informing people so they will
JS>>> "Package" the news to be more entertaining. If the accuracy of
JS>>> the news suffers. Oh well...
RW>> I don't think it's a monetary agenda they're pushing. It's more
RW>> political.
JS> I am sure it is both. They are sure to want to make more money.
JS> One way to accomplish that is to get more people to watch their news.
JS> If simply reporting the news doesn't that then making the news more
JS> entertaining is a way of doing that. Which is ok IF the accuracy of
JS> the news is maintained. But all to often one can see that accuracy is
JS> not at the top of their list of priorities. And yes, politics play a
JS> growing part in how the press reports the news. I especially noticed
JS> that some years ago when we had the last presidential election.
It was present in the last two elections. Funny part was that they all
backed the loser in the one before last, taking the winner for granted to
lose the election on his speach impediment alone.
RW>>>> It's also a laughing matter that BJ believes it, making him
RW>>>> the biggest fool in Fidonet.
JS>>> Now you may have a point there. As I have told Felten I can't
JS>>> help but think that he stays up late at night in front of his
JS>>> 'puter searching the net for bad things that are being said about
JS>>> the US so he can post them here. That is also why I have stated
JS>>> that Felten's worst enemy is his own mouth.
RW>> His continuous tirades prove that he's a victim of the media's
RW>> agenda.
JS> The problem that I see is that he allows himself to feed off the
JS> media's agenda. Taking what they say as gospel and posting here in
JS> the Fidonews echo. This echo isn't meant for his, yours, or my
JS> tirades.
True, but as you say, the moderator influences the users in the echo with
his stated opinions, good or bad.
JS> But from what I have seen. There is talk of changing the rules
JS> to more accomidate the current moderator's style.
LOL! Those were his rules that were adopted years ago to suit his style.
Now he wants to change them to suit the mood he's created with his
constant violations of those same rules.
RW>> If they get everyone to believe that the US is the problem, rather
RW>> than the terrorists and Saudi insurgents, they've succeeded in their
RW>> plan.
JS> Why do you think every one hates the US? Without even knowing
JS> people from the US. Alot is based on what they see reported to them
JS> by both US and foreign media. In this regard politics is the problem.
Their politics. Uro politics is to sit down and discuss the problem until
they're blue in the face. Meanwhile, the problem escalates itself behind
their backs. Then they wonder why the terrorists they adore are now
bombing them.
