JD>>> The testing etc, is done both inhouse, and by the customer. Boeing

RW>> When I worked there c1966, they wouldn't accept anything from an

Exactly.

RW>> Later on in life c1979, I was a buyer for a large company in San

JD> I wonder if some lost their jobs over that <G>

I dunno about that, but was glad to see the quality of his work get
better. I was to the point of doubting myself when his parts came into the
area. Was I being too hard on him or was that expected of me? Was I
supposed to allow some of his stuff to pass or was I expected do a
dilligent job of it and reject that which didn't meet specs? I was sure
that I wasn't mature enough to go there, but I did what I expected any QC
man was supposed to do.

JD>>> The airlines are another matter. As you noted up above, they will

 RW>> inspections-repairs happen on a regular basis.

JD> The poorer airlines are more apt to do things like that, just to keep
JD> their heads above financial disaster in this age of expensive flying.

I guess so. Having built them and having flown on them, I'm no fan of
flying with someone else at the helm. Especially if the airline has little
or no maintenence program to speak of.

    Have a day!
