It's hard to think of the days when elevators were not the norm, isn't it.
There were three elevators total in my home town, and every one was meant for
grain. I've heard, that elevators in private homes was becoming the norm for
two and three story houses for clients that have run out of things to spend
their money on. I suppose there is merit, if people decline in their mobility,
and seeing as a Ranch house layout is just not feasible, unless if in the
boonies.

AH> The "suburbs" are further out in the weeds
 AH> too.... :-/

L!!! We've a case of urban sprawl here. The weeds hardly have a chance to set
seed, before they become backfill. A friend called it, when she predicted Van
was full, and Calgary was going to boom next. Boy, did she nail it!

AH> Probably not... but you don't strike

Nouveau downtrodden, yes. Riche... At least I'm doing OK. <L> You know, if I
didn't have certain ducks in a row as I was going under, I *could* have been
homeless. Ya, I likely could have depended on low income housing and such, but
that would have been too stifling for my personality. I just rolled in with a
second lot of scratch-dent and incomplete furniture sold at auction. To do that
while "Upwardly mobile" would be nearly impossible, or at least very expensive.

I suspect there is too much of that going on. Someone sees a host(ess) on their
favorite TV home improv show butcher a project, as long as it looks nice when
they're done - never mind when the roof collapses in twenty years. Back in the
day, people knew how to build a sod house, or plaster their walls with straw
and clay out of necessity. If you couldn't frame a barn, neighbours could be
bought for food.

I guess I'd noticed that too, when I'd visit relatives. When my cousin moved
here for his practicum, and his buddies from home came to town, there were full
of it... Er, them. <G> When someone was playing hero to exhibit machismo,
they'd say, "Don't be a wiener." with an accent that could be confused for
"winner."

AH> Wonderful!!! Now we just have to work on "lose" and
 AH> "loose".... ;-)

JB> I'm sure I can blame that on a tentative keystroke.
JB> [blablabla] getting lazy. (I know... AGAIN! |-)

AH> Hmm... IIRC you used "(sic)" with
AH> "loose" recently, and I imagine you know "sic"
AH> is used where something looks like an error but
AH> isn't. I'm forced to conclude you were

 AH> goat.... ;-)

I guess. <???> The way I think of it, is (sic) = SNAFU. Such is life, faults
and all. Not good, nor bad, just there with blemishes, and that's the final
word on it, "I aint kidding either." I can't easily call up past messages, nor
do I recall the incident. It'd be just like me to poke your goat with a ten
foot stick... Err, something like that. O-8*
