[RE: Sharp Cheddar]
AH> If it's flame orange, it probably has colouring... but you
AH> can get it without. Years ago, I read somewhere that summer butter
AH> is a darker yellow than winter butter because it has more
AH> vitamin A in it. I guess the makers of butter & cheese add
AH> colouring in many cases because, while their customers
AH> expect these things to come in vivid yellow & orange, they
 AH> don't consciously know *why*. :-)

Fer instance, I just found out Cheddar is a region in England. As is most of
the other cheese names; identified by where they were first incarnated. Not
"Blue" by my knowledge, but there is likely a few more destinctive names,
isolating different locals under the "Blue" label. <?>

As has my knowledge of vit-A content versus fresh feed, you just fired a few
synaptic signals. I seem to recal something about the colour of butter turning
as the seasons do, but maybe that I can imagine proof to: "What goes in, must
come out."

It just reinforced the best insight to substance abuse I have ever heard. "If
you eat too many carrots, you'll turn orange." There's a tune of harmony in
your statement.

Segueing into harmony, my guitar-playing, co-writer just showed me his brand
new, old, Hamond organ. The sweatheart was housed in some institute of
religion, and uninstalled once someone removed some expensive tubes from its
Class-A amplifier, making it "...Not work anymore." My friend pointed out the
two missing tubes, where the clearing house (Menonite, seems to ring a bell.)
asked if it was worth $20 to him. I guess he almost soiled his underwear, and
his parlaying the incident found me not able to hold my jaw up from the pull of
gravity. The spotless instrument came with the original solid oak bench. As you
can not build a solid oak bench for a *Hundred* Twenty-dollars, even if you try
to farm the job out to China, my friend put as much change as he could find in
his pocket as a deposit, and RACED to the nearest ATM...

You see what kind-a friends I associate with? He's the same fella, who had his
team unwittingly install a mixing desk, with the numbers "666" in its serial
number. Once the *church* started recording serial numbers, the unacceptable
"Sign of the devil." would not be accepted in a house of God... <I STILL find
that one funny.> Today, my "F-ed up Ford" has the serial number ending in a
"666-9". I've beeen toying with a paint scheme including an "El Diablo" or "The
Beast" declaration. I wonder how I gravitate to these situations? <G+Pray
fervently. B->

AH> Ah... I feel a research project coming on! Nora tells me
AH> spicy foods help when she has a tummy ache. I was a bit dubious
AH> until I read that jalapenos help with the digestion. And
AH> IIRC, paprika is good for something or other. :-)

Huh... I know the Mint family is spectacular for upsets. How a spice could calm
a stomach is news to me too. Usually, Wesabi <SP?> is more than a sharp
garnish, it is a required enzyme substitute to cooking the fishies.

A table-spoon full of vinegar is the best fix for acid reflux. If that's the
case, maybe Jalapeno (No, I'm not looking for the high-ASCII code for the
tild-like thingy on the "n". B-) could encourage Ph balance. My take, is Nora
is likely unencumbered by our over-thunk predjudices, and more able to fairly
judge a cause-and-effect?

AH> Some people don't like to think too much about
AH> where their food cones from. I had an aunt who thought it
AH> was okay to eat fish but not meat because... according to
AH> her... fish don't feel pain. I was only about ten years
AH> old at the time she said this. But I couldn't help
AH> wondering why, if fish don't feel pain, they struggle so
AH> hard to get away when they've been caught on a hook.

Maybe you were young enough, not to be encumbered by fancy scientific
justifications. Someone did a study, that does give the fishes ownership of
feelings. Sport fishing to me, doesn't incude throwing them back.

AH> Great minds think alike, eh?? I'm also reminded
AH> of the story about a guy who ate cat food by mistake & then
AH> told his wife how much he had enjoyed the meat loaf in the
AH> fridge. I must say the tuna & cheese does sound good....
 AH> :-))

It should help the grocery budget, but looking at the prices of pet food these
days, it'd likely be more expensive.

 AH> Uh-huh. I noticed an example at a recent kayaking camp. A
AH> few of us were chatting & one individual who was a total stranger
AH> to me commented (apropos of what I don't recall) "I never
AH> had much use for Latin after I left school." I replied "I
AH> did... but I'm an English teacher." YMMV. No muss, no
AH> fuss, no hard feelings. We went on chatting amicably about
AH> something else. Many people think it's rude to use the
AH> word "I", though. Sometimes they say things like "Latin is
AH> useless!" without regard for their audience, then they're
AH> the picture of injured innocence when they see that other
AH> people have steam coming out their ears. :-/

Mom and I just had a conversation, where we were practicing generalizations,
and predjudice. We suposed, Canadians, are more apt to say, "You are an idiot.
(...Because I don't understand how your suggestion might help the project/make
their life better.)" The task I have asigned myself, is to let the unlightened
go along their blissfull ways. I *know* when I've a bump on the log, but I have
a *real* chore in prying myself away from them.

AH> Interesting idea. I guess the anger & disillusionment we
AH> may feel in these situations probably has as much to do with
AH> ourselves as with them... we're ashamed of our faulty

Well, for instence, I was being tutored in electronics. The guy was smart
enough, but some his explanations were not holding water. I asked to borrow the
text, and came back with a "Told ya so." (I wasn't nearly as tactfull back
then. Imagine... ;-)

THis fella was recommended to me, and I did feel obligated to revear him.
(There was plenty of reverance apropriate.) He was assigned for my education,
and the best thing he tought me was to find my own answers.

When the same things happen in a learning institution, I start to distrust the
institution, only after I couldn't fix the situation in a more direct manner.

AH> judgement. IMHO we don't know a person well until we have
AH> seen their dark side, and the same applies to us. But we
AH> may realize, on closer acquaintance, that we & others have
AH> more depth than we thought at first.... :-)

Amen to that! 'Lord, please see to everyones safty that may cross the path of
"The Beast".' <VBWEG>

... James
