LOL! Shit and Shinola have something in common, they both could be black,
brown and sometimes even white. I've never seen any green shinola, but
I've seen green and yellow shit before. Maybe there is green and/or yellow
shinola, but I've never seen any.

The phrase comes from city boys who're addressing 'farmers'...

When the farm boys came to town, they had shit on their shoes from all
that walking in the cow and pig pens. Sometimes it was black, sometimes
with a green tint, but mostly, it was brown.

Now the city boys were used to shining their shoes often, and of course
they had the impression that the farm boys were a little weird, just
because they were farm boys. Therefore they must have shined their shoes
with shit.

Shinola of course, is the name of the manufacturer who makes shoe polish.

I've been trying to educate you since this all began. There is nothing in
an empty barrel, therefore there is nothing that will make the barrel
rattle.

Ummm, not possible. You see, there is more than one definition of a
barrel. You've been hornswaggled into believing that Stewie is talking
about a barrel made of wood and steel rings, while we've been talking
about gun barrels. Barrels don't rattle, in either case and we've also
pointed out to you and Stewie several times that a pile of wood and steel
rings is no longer a barrel. He came up with that anology in an attempt to
save himself from being laughed out of the echo. Of course it failed. He's
still the laughing stock of the echo, and you're the fool who's getting to
the same stage.

Empty barrels don't rattle. Take an empty barrel, set it on a pedestal and
see if you can hear it rattle when left undisturbed. The only way to hear
a rattle is to hit it, which is an induced sound wave that isn't conducive
to the barrel in its natural state.
